Larry D. Leonard received
his undergraduate education at the University of Kansas
receiving his Bachelor
of Science in Education in 1971, with a Major in Biology
and a Minor in Chemistry. Mr. Leonard attended the University
of Kansas Law School and received his Juris Doctorate
in 1974. While in law school, Mr. Leonard served as a
Deputy District Attorney in Wyandotte County, Kansas,
during the summer of his junior/senior year. Mr. Leonard
is admitted to practice in all Federal District Courts
in Oklahoma and Kansas, as well as the 10th Circuit Court
of Appeals.
Mr. Leonard entered the private practice of law in
Tulsa, Oklahoma, in June 1974, and has been in private
practice continuously since then. Mr. Leonard has practiced
with various firms, ranging from 3 members to 35 members,
and he has been a partner or shareholder in all of
those affiliations. Mr. Leonard's current firm was
founded in 1998, and he and his partner, Hugh V. Rineer,
take great pride in providing quality legal services
to their clients on a personal basis.
Mr. Leonard is a member of the Tulsa County Bar Association,
Oklahoma and Kansas Bar Associations, and the American
Bar Association. He is currently the President of the
Tulsa County Bar Association, a voluntary bar association
with over 2,000 members. Mr. Leonard was President
Elect (2002-2003) and in past years has served as Vice
President, Secretary (twice), Treasurer, and has served
on several key committees in addition to being a member
of the Board of Directors for several years. Mr. Leonard
was also a member of the Tulsa Municipal Judicial Nominating
Committee (1996-2002) and has served as a Delegate
to the Oklahoma Bar Association on several occasions.
Mr. Leonard has served in sever al
community organizations and other professional associations.
Mr. Leonard has
been a member of the Tulsa Title & Probate Lawyers
Association since 1979; was a volunteer member of the
Board of Directors of the Oil Capital Community Credit
Union (1996-2002); was a charter member of the Tulsa
County Bar Foundation Fellows; and currently serves
as a member of the Board of Regents for Tulsa Community
College, having been appointed by former Governor Frank
Keating, previously a law partner of Mr. Leonard's.
Mr. Leonard's practice areas include business litigation,
business and commercial mediation, business planning
law and organizations, commercial law, environmental
law, domestic relations and personal injury litigation.
Mr. Leonard was divorce counsel for country entertainer
Reba McEntire when she was divorced from Mr. Charlie
Battles. Mr. Leonard is certified as a business and
commercial mediator pursuant to the Oklahoma District
Court Mediation Act. Mr. Leonard's practice encompasses
several areas of the law, and he feels his broad range
of experience and knowledge is a benefit for his clients.
